Overview of the Wine
Domaine des Geais consists of 3 hectares of vineyards located in the Côtes du Marmandais, an appellation just south of Bordeuax, located between the Garonne and Dordogne Rivers in Southwest, France. The Domaine is run by the Boissonneau family, who have been making wine since 1839, primarily in Bordeaux. Today, the sixth generation of family members run the estate, led by Pascal Boissonneau.
Eleanor of Aquitaine (then Queen of England) ordered monks to plant the first vines on this 72 hectare estate in 1150. The property stretches over the right bank of the Garonne river across the hillsides of Saint Michel de Lapujade, and benefits from the mild and humid air that rises up from the sea and travels down the Garonne valley.
Pierre Boissonneau purchased the property in 1839, and descendants Christian, Pascal, Phillippe, and Nico have transformed it into one of the best places in Bordeaux for value driven organic wine.

Grape / Blend
37% Arbouriou, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Syrah and 9% Merlot
About Arbouriou: Abouriou is a rare, early-ripening red grape variety primarily native to Southwest France, particularly the Lot-et-Garonne region. Known for its intense color, it produces deeply pigmented, aromatic wines—often with fruity notes of blackcurrant and raspberry—that have high tannin levels and lower acidity. It is sometimes blended for color or used for varietal wines in the Côtes du Marmandais.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Bouquet of fresh blackcurrant fruit, with a good intensity of flavors. A full-bodied and well-balanced wine, rich and concentrated.
Short maceration (one week), depending on the variety, at variable temperatures from 10 to 12°C. After the run off, the temperature is elevated until 20°c in order to start the fermenting process. We keep the temperature at 24°c during the fermentation to create the best conditions for the natural yeasts.
